What does a Support Worker do?
Encompass Support Workers provide professional care and support services to people who have a learning disability or a severe and enduring mental health issue across Dorset. Care can be provided either within one of our ten dedicated homes or at the service user’s home.
These services include (but are not limited to):
- Supported Living
- Respite Care
- Registered care home
- Support in Your Own Home
- Support with community based activities
These services have been designed to provide our service users with a significant improvement to their quality of life and are delivered as bespoke options in order to maximise their success.

Nationally Recognised Qualifications (for free!)
All new members of staff will undertake a free Care Certificate induction course to ensure they have the relevant skills for the job and there is also ongoing training available throughout your time here.
This certificate is nationally recognised and a great addition to a skills portfolio which will help all Support Workers to improve the standard of care they provide as well as enhancing employability. At Encompass we see support and care as a career not just a job.
Competitive Pay Rates
We also offer competitive pay, with all Support Workers earning the living wage or above with additional payments for bank holiday shifts.
Encompass staff also have the ability to achieve genuine career progression within the care industry, with opportunities to progress to Senior Support Worker or Team Leader positions. In addition, there are also a range of other positions such as Deputy Manager and Home Manager.
Encompass also include all employees in the employer sponsored pension scheme. Through this scheme, Encompass staff will receive an additional contribution from the charity towards their pension pot.

Each and every one of our service users are individual and have their own unique personalities, interests and issues. As a result, successful Support Workers will need to be able to adapt to new challenges whilst still maintaining a caring mind-set at all times.
All staff members are expected to work excellently both individually and as a team. This is vital for Support Workers as they will need to utilise the skills of their team as well as being able to effectively communicate with service users and their families on a regular basis.
